Da Nang, Vietnam is home to one of coolest and most unique bridges in Southeast Asia, the dragon bridge.
Construction on the dragon bridge began on July 19, 2009 and was open to traffic on March 29, 2013, the 38th anniversary of the liberation of Da Nang City. The total cost was 1.5 trillion VND which is equivalent to $88 million usd. The bridge spans 6 lanes of traffic (37.5m wide), and is 666m long.
Every Friday and Saturday night the dragon breathes fire and water! We unfortunately departed right before the weekend so we missed the show. We will just have to come back!
We were lucky to find out our hotel offered free bike rentals. We took those bikes out and rode all around the city, trying different places to eat, as well as biking the entire dragon bridge a few times.
Don't forget to view the dragon bridge at night even if it is not a Friday or Saturday. The bridge lights up and the dragon changes colors.
The dragon bridge can be easily found on google maps. We biked to the dragon bridge from our hotel. Caution, bicycling on the waterfront is prohibited.
